Undisciplinated popping dots illusion

Small circles seem to appear and disappear spontaneously as the eye is moved over them.

This visual popping activity is due to our visual system which is constantly searching for the best interpretation in this unorganized pattern.

Revolving circle illusion

The circles appear to revolve, when stare the circle it seems to be rotating infect its not appears to resolve or rotate but it seems to b

The expanding pupil Illusion

The black circle appears to expand while the outer gray circle appears to contract.

Counter rotating circle optical illusion

Some regular concentric objects appear to rotate when we approach or move back from them. Move your head backwards and forwards keeping the focus on the central cross of the image, the 3 circular sets will counter-rotate!

Contrast in circle shape optical illusion

How objects and colors appear is highly dependent on their context. The structural and spatial variables of a scene can influence appearance and perception. The following optical illusion demonstrates how we are sometimes fooled by our eyes

Rotating Circle optical illusion

Just stare at the different rings, and you should see a ton of illusory motion. That means that although there is actually nothing moving in this image, as your eyes scan around the image your brain will make you think that the rings are rotating. If you freeze your eyes and don't move them at all, you can almost get them to stop.

Waving pin Wheel optical illusion | Expanding circle optical illusion

Concentrate on the center point of the circle and you will see that it starts moving as well as expanding. Actually it the lines are the same and are not moving. This is just an illusion to your eyes

The Spinning Disks Illusion

The Spinning Disks Illusion

When sets of disks with tangential greylevel gradients are arranged in concentric circles (see image above, most observers perceive these disks moving around the centre, similar to Kitaoka’s ‘snake illusion’. This motion illusion is enhanced for large-scale and bright images and depends to a large extent to dynamic changes in the stimulus such as elicited by involuntary eye movements or blinks – fixating the centre of the pattern does abolish the illusion, whereas scanning the picture the motion sensation. A reliably effective version of this illusion, which does not require eye movements (i.e. persists when observers fixate the target in the centre of the image), can be generated by modulating the background luminance of the array of disks . This stimulus offers the opportunity of studying this motion illusion – the percept of spinning disks in the absence of any physical displacement – in a highly controlled manner in psychophysical and physiological experiments, because it is not depending on involuntary eye movements or eye blinks. Work in preparation (Zanker 2005) will demonstrate how this illusion can be explained in terms of a two-dimensional motion detector network

Ring appear to expand illusion | Expanding circle illusion

The rings in this image appear to expand spontaneously. When we approach or move away from rings keeping our eyes fixed on the center, one of the rings appear to rotate in the direction opposite to that of the other and when we approach rings keeping our eyes fixed on the center, something like a star appears inside the rings and appears to rotate in the direction opposite to the apparent rotation of the inner ring.

Cricle Size Disorting Optical Illusion

This is a unique view of a classic size distortion illusion. Looking at the illusion art below which crystal is larger the one in the center of the top left circle or the crystal in the center of the lower right circle? Each is surrounded by 6 other crystals. At first glance it appears that the crystal in the center of the top left circle is the larger of the two truth is though they are the exact same size.

Length Of The Line Optical Illusion

Length Of The Line Optical Illusion

Is the length of the line same in both the cases? The answer is yes, but it may look that length is different and that is due to the position of the circles.

Dimple Or Pimple Optical Illusion

Dimple Or Pimple Optical Illusion

At first impression most people dimples. In the absence of an obvious light source most people place an imaginary light source above the image (being earthlings living under the sun i suppose this is only natural). Because of this pre-conception we now imagine a shadow being cast at the top of the circles and light being caught on the bottom that is our assumption of where the light is coming from forces us to see indentations.

Bigger Circle Illusion | Black and White Circle Illusion

Stare at the center black dot. Do all of the black dots seem to bet bigger?

Bigger Circle Illusion | Black and White Circle Illusion

OR! Look at the center black dot again for 20 seconds.

Then look away from it quickly and you should see the same image just opposite. The Black dots will be white and the white bigger circles will be black, try it!

Bumping or Holes Circle Optical Illusion

Bumping or Holes Circle Optical Illusion
You are likely to see that the top row of circles appear as "bumps" followed by "holes" and so on in an alternating pattern.

Can you try and see the opposite? Have a good hard look and try to see the first row as holes and the second as bumps. Difficult?

Now hide the bottom row of circles from your field of vision (either with your hand, or scrolling your browser window appropriatly). Is it easier to see the first row as holes now?

Tricky Circle Illusion

In this image, the two circles appears to be wavy. It’s so confusing on our eyes that we cant see the circles shape properly.

Cross and circle Illusion

OK, this time you need to cover your right eye and stare at the black circle. The move closer to the screen and see the cross disapear. Move back again and the cross will reappear...

Now imagine the cross is a motorbike and think about them next time you go out in the car!

actually they are the same size! measure 'them!
