A provocative ice cream advert for Gelato Italiano which showed a priest and a nun in a 'seductive pose' was banned in Italy after readers complained that it was offensive...the promotional material, which appeared in two magazines, was intended to portray the "forbidden Italian temptations" that its Gelato Italiano ice cream represented

The Club Fire nightclub in Ipswich, England put out this flier to promote a night called Berserk. The daring flier showing the late Pope John Paul II holding a bottle of beer and dancing with a blonde woman has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.

A television advert for the Angelina Jolie action film Wanted, also starring James McAvoy, was banned in England after the industry watchdog ruled it could glamorize violence.

Angelina glamorizing violence in a video ad? Really? Given the chance, the woman would glamorize a bucket filled with shit and spit. Duh!

These are "banned" print ads from all over the world that were not supposed to see the light of day because they were deemed too racy, violent, religiously offensive or just plain weird.

Some random descriptions: In image #17, high fashion is duly represented by Dolce and Gabbana's scandalously violent mob of beautiful, fashion-conscious young men (plus a naked chick) brandishing guns and knives. There's also the well-known D&G-spawned ad (#18) where a group of young men watch impassively as a half naked dude pins a chick down to the ground in what has been variously described as a "mob rape". We also have the weird and down right creepy "beauty to die for" ad leading the gallery of the absurd; former English PM Tony Blair bar code mustache at #4; the S&M duck which is second in the gallery(I'm sorry but that one is funny!); the Smint sex doll on #13 and plenty more images to be (hopefully) offended by.

PETA's Overtly Sexual Ad for the Super Bowl Banned by NBC

PETA is getting raunchy on me. This overtly sexual ad submitted by the animal rights organization to NBC to be aired during the upcoming Super Bowl, got banned because it was considered to be too damn racy.

Michael McGraw, spokesperson for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), notes:

"Lingerie-clad women caressing broccoli spears, enjoying an odd asparagus moment, and kissing a pumpkin are too racy for Super Bowl audiences, says NBC. The network has benched PETA's new TV ad launch promoting vegetarian foods -- a campaign PETA had commissioned specifically for the big game."
